The Arion Band has recently learned, with great sadness, of the passing one of our former members, Mr. Dale Parker.
For most of his life, Dale Parker WAS the Arion Band. He joined the band in approximately 1940, and he served as the Drum Major (yes, back in the days when we were a marching band) for over 40 years. There are scores if photos of him standing in front of the band, proudly in his bearskin cap and uniform.
Even after his retirement from active membership in the group, he still stayed involved. He regularly attended concerts, kept up correspondence with the leaders of the group, and publicly supported us in any way that he could.
He loved the band.
He was a wealth of knowledge, and he was a good friend. We will miss him dearly.
Thanks for everything, Dale. We'll keep carrying on in your memory. Say hi to Gus for us while you're up there!
Our deepest condolences go out to Dale's family.

Not only did the Arion Band participate in the City of Cumberland's "America 250 Parade" today, we were honored to be joined on our float by Frostburg's Mayor and City Council!
The Arion Band is incredibly proud to be a part of the Frostburg community, and we are very grateful to the City of Frostburg for supporting our organization for 149 years, and counting!
Thank you to Kristi-Todd Logsdon for providing the truck and trailer for today's parade, Owen Rowe and Evan Rowe for carrying the banner, and to everyone for coming out to be a part of today's event.
Frostburg, get out and enjoy this summer, and don't forget to celebrate America's Semiquincentennial (what a mouthful!)
Seen here with the Arion Band are Frostburg Mayor Todd Logsdon, City Councilwoman Nina Forsythe, and honorary bannermen Owen and Evan Rowe.

Pssh, when did a little "severe thunderstorm advisory" ever stop the Arion Band?
We've battened down, and we're getting ready for our upcoming concerts.
Come see us this Saturday as the Arion Band participates in the city of Cumberland's "America 250 Parade" (on a float, not marching.... thank goodness 😅)
Then, next Monday, come to the Kensington Senior Center as we play for the residents there.
Lots of great things happening this summer. We hope to see you there!

Good morning everyone!
This afternoon, come on out to Hoffman Park and join us as we celebrate Flag Day.
The Arion Band, in conjunction with Frostburg Elks Lodge #470 will commemorate the 249th birthday of our American Flag at the Hoffman Park Amphitheater at 1:00 PM. After the ceremony, Farrady Post 24 Frostburg American Legion will host a community picnic.
Summer is here, Frostburg! Get out and enjoy every minute it!
